The board of Union of Writers and Honored Art Workers of Turkic World made a decision on presenting the Azeri President Heydar Aliyev with special award for 2001 Turkic World. Today CNA received from Ankara statement by the head of the Union Yakhin Akengin who says that this year shifting of Azerbaijan to Latin script "has become one of the most important stages in the history of Turkic world." According to Turkish official Azerbaijan's transition to Latin script put an end to gradual implementation of alphabet reforms in Turkic states. Earlier, a special award of the Turkic World was presented to the ex-president of Turkey Suleyman Demiral. Heydar Aliyev will be solemnly presented this reward during his visit to Turkey.
